Did I know?
Did I know you could change my word
you could change the way I perceive
I who scorned at the slightest of wavering from track
will forget to breathe on time myself
I who had come to shun trust
will walk besides you with blindfolded eyes
I who never looked back
will learn to cherish moments forgotten
weave designs intricate and share with all and mighty
I who spoke little till shaken by life to its extremities
will learn to utter my deepest fears at the mere sight of any provocation
I who woke up each morning with my bosom filled with vacuum
will begin to smell jasmines in my own deep chambers
I who saw nights as black blank blankets
will learn to feast my eyes at the sights of auras of angles
I who saw sky simply as a blue sheet stretched across two horizons
will learn to paint rainbows with my very own eyes
I who had stopped midway on the path to my destiny
will learn to trace my footsteps and traverse on it once again
I who had turned a miser and held sentiments enslaved
will learn to throw myself to winds and splurge in emotions
I who had been wandering aimlessly trying to keep afloat with clumsy artless reflexes
will learn to swim across the channels of my inner oceans
with the grace of an ace swimmer
I who had not known one day I will be blessed with love you sent my way
has never felt afore elated to esteems beyond all comprehensions.

More air!
One more gesture from the heavens
one tall order to my bounds
we have to rise to fill our vases
with the flowers picked up in full bloom
we need to choose those which shine brightest
even when the sun might fail to rise
we need to put them in blood taken out of our veins
we have to show respect to those who clean our floors
for if they forget
where shall we throw our waste
we need to sleep through blissful nights
for if we remained un-slept
awakened will not be humankind
we need to learn to mend broken hearts
for if they bled more where shall our beloved reside
we need to ask rich to dole out more
for when they are hungry
what shall we throw in the fire
we need to sow some mighty brave seeds of men
for when wars break out seasons fail
we do not end up in blame game
we need to live longer than our bodies are designed
for when our dreams refuse to fade
we may be able to ignite another flame
we need to tow away undesirable respite
for when tired go down, bow down
we can pull up their necks
and show them their road again
we need to smother jealousies
and give vent to health with pink cheeks
for when love needs to flourish
we may not feel defeat for short of air!

Chilly winds
Chilly wind has turned sharper
drops of ice falling down
each one pierces me
pierces me with lies spoken for no gain
for lies never have feet to walk on
for lies when uttered drop dead the moment they are born
yet I carry their corpses
I carry those till they are frozen
dig deeper and deeper into my soul
I pick iced knives out of my flesh
one by one and melt them on my hearth
each single drop that falls on my overstretched palm
reminds me of forgotten comforts
words of wisdom hollow from within
caresses that did not exist
for air they rode on was too heavy to carry them
lips that spoke did not throw a single word out
as the words were devoid of syllables
yet they were, they were all the while
all the while all the time
in this very world
breathing free of life
beating without heartbeats
in tandem with shadows of darkest nights
dark and cold, accompanied by chilly winds!

My life
this whole of my life
is like a birthday cake
I received as a gift
from my beloved who sent me here
I cut a large piece for myself
I eat it and keep it too
off white icing is hard as anyone’s luck
it’s sweetness tastes like teenage love
silver balls crackle as I dig my teeth
these feel like tough tasks I take
red hot strawberry on the top
is luscious like a lover’s lips
chocolate interior dark and warm
feels like love’s embrace
it tastes like life bitter and sweet
savouring every morsel I feel like a queen
delicious are these moments
not less than this cake
which I savour
and get to keep!

a close call!
I am calling from the past
said that voice and shook me
shaken my roots
pulled those out and shredded the earth off
roots of sweet memories
juicy and red as turnips
tasted of beet roots
sweet.. very sweet on the onset
bitter as I chew longer
I know this will stay
this sweet bitter taste
for the rest of my life
whenever these roots moved
whenever they are shaken
every time skies shower rain or hail
every time I plough to grow more
each time I pour some saline water
each moment a new red green leave sprouts up
I know there are more roots
deep inside.. taking shape.. holding on to soil
these will grow longer, stronger with every new leaf
past will become larger than my own life
and one fine day
it will arrive garbed in robes stolen from future
transcending through the times
and shall begin to march with me
every step in tandem with mine!

I care…
a word of caution
an act of passion
could never go hand in hand
so we arrive and leave this world behind
I pick up those flowers and freeze their fragrance
I chose to ignore what might become
I transcend through conscious decisions
I ignore hearts filled of intoxications
I pick up a path while yet in sleep
eyes smarting from too much of love
emotions drowning in their own deep oceans
every single word writ large on my mind
it calls out and whispers your name
words that spread far and wide
words move with a gladiator’s pride
riding on wings of soft murmurs
I hide behind my own shadows!
