i am blind!

I am blind!

One warm evening in the garb of a cold
pestering windy chilly late afternoon
knocked at my door consistently
I looked up to see some forgotten tales
being pushed in through the cat hole
flap of the hole fell back with a thud
I saw them crawling towards my feet like my cat
slowly proudly eyes shining with tail wagging
they sat on my feet all curled up
I dare not move a single inch
lest they get disturbed and scatter like fallen leaves
as minutes tick away one by one
with every tick tock of my clock
they turn thicker as more memories are embedded
my cold feet get warmer
their soft fur touches me to the core of my heart
keeping this warmth close to me
with my aching back and crackling fingers
I looked down in their green sparkling eyes
they stared in mine
we knew this was the moment we were waiting for
with my arms outstretched, I picked them up like a baby
held close to my bosom
they were warm and soft like my own
very own tears falling down my cheeks all this while
I closed my eyes and made them captive
from that day they are here in my eyes
I dare not open them for fear of losing them
and world knows me as another blind one!

togetherness…

Togetherness!

words are the weapons of this world
the mightiest strongest most powerful
when they strike
screams don’t dare escape throats
they beat you down the road till the end
till the bend of that farthest corner
so you do not return in search of solace
you turn the corner
mend the bend
and walk further on lonely roads
filled with myriads of possibilities
yet when you peep inside you see none
you feel a void unfulfilled
since the day you added wings to your dreams
from the moment you chose to commit your own crimes
words strike you at the slightest of provocations
words hit you right at the left of your chest
words sit inside your brain
trained to drill deeper and deeper
destined to enclose all you stand for
make you search for anti-dotes
for diamond they say is cut by a diamond only
you look for your diamond
I look for mine
and together we shall shine those
striking against each other
sharpening our mutual arsenal
and taking this war of words
beyond this hatred
to the blessed world of togetherness!

Another smile.

another smile!

as I wade through the weeds
feet entangle breath shortens
saline waters fills my nostrils
salt sits on eyelids
hands cracking after too much of soaking
heart explores length breadth and depth
of oceans I have jumped in
searching for those lost treasures
with breaking speed
my hands collect
everything they stumble upon
rustic hearts, shining pearls
lustrous sapphires, sunlit jades
someone’s long lost desires
another one’s stolen and then thrown away dreams
gathering all I run deeper
losing track of time
I feel faint and I know
that now I have to go
with my bag full of life
keeping tight I do climb
shaft of water with eyes wide
joy in my heart knows no bounds
all my limbs are full of flight
reaching shores I open my bag
pour it down on the floor
one by one all come out
bright lights fill all corners
light has turned everything
blinding bright sunlit shine
just then my heart skips many beats all at a time
I rummage through lustreless waste
with drowning heart drooping eyes
with shooting pain in my breast
my hands throw everything around
my soul cries out aloud
why have you left my treasure behind?
Why you come with empty hands each time?
Ocean’s water stays calm stays aloof
do not respond
ocean’s depths walk up
begins to sail on its waves
one by one I ask those
looking at me they all smile!

The Sun!

the sun!
Days walk by night arrives
people speak their eyes cry
women run children thrive
yet no one seems to to be in time elapsed
time that did not exist
when life had gone to rescue its origin
when stars polished themselves for this shine
moon dived in ocean to wash off dust
which fell on it from a recent eclipse
horizon was doomed with tail of a new comet
they say it came after thousands of years
all was frozen when sun came out
sun was the saviour
sun became the cause
sun was the reason for all of us to be!

bird’s eye view!

bird’s eye view!

Perched at my window sill
since the day I arrived
in this body of a bird
another phoenix that rose from its own ashes
a bird murdered by its own kin
minions could not carry that tarred body
it lay there scattered on this window sill
weathering sun, moon, rain, hail, storms, air, fire
then one fine day an alchemist arrived
and poured serene rainbow plasma
I became I became I became
some feathers, a few small muscles
one beak that learned to peck
two clumsy paws to hobble around
one sweet tweet emerged and melted in background
two small black buttons looked around
a sky stretched from oceans to mountains
spread over its little head between two horizons
it hobbled on its paws and saw horizons move
there were not two but many
starting from east, reaching far into west
passing through north till south becomes
and in between some match boxes
faded but mingled amongst themselves
men and women large and little
running around for life’s chores
but do they know how they came to be?
Do they care to know who they are?
Each one is given a name and class
each has their own world
to live day in and day out
some do smile some laugh aloud
some of them just play around
bird zooms in to see some more
it dives deeper and touch the ground
dust is here in every eye
sad tears smiles wry
wounded hearts swollen prides
souls cheated for being divine!
Shoulders carry burdens of hives
yet when tongues need honey
they search and search but no one finds
disillusioned bird flies around for some more
some respite from drowned dreams
some flowers in dingy drenched forgotten interiors
some fragrance in stolen roses
some life in dead oceans
bird is tired bird is dying
diving down towards the earth
it’s eyes are filled with tears
bird’s eye view is swimming back and forth!

a smile.

a smile!

Wind came and flew by me
asked me if I wanted to fly
I knew I did but I also knew
I had not wings to fly with her

water made waves and filled me
with awe and asked if I needed some
as my soul he knew was hurting
I remained silent I had nothing to say

a little sparrow sat by me pecking at my ring
she said she wanted my bright stones
I permitted her to dig out as many as she could
she tried and tried but fell down of fatigue

one large plank passed by me floating on waters
looked in my direction and shouted
“hey, there, want to ride on me to other shores?”
I wanted but I knew I had not the passport

a white cloud flew and rested above my head
wanted to know if he could stay longer
I thanked and told him to follow his own destiny
he smiled, waved goodbye and was gone

one pen filled with ink blue and red
sat near my fingers for ages
today needed to know if it could write
I picked and it drew on paper some syllables

my little plant from near my table looks up
sends out fragrances my way
I savour with my eyes closed
a sweet smile pasted on my lips till eternity!
