my little window is closed for good
I look out from the one that is still intact
I set my elbows on its ledge
I peep through the glass not clean today
it has some dust from yesterday’s storm
my chin resting on my open palms
my eyes focused on horizon need to know
if it is far or at just an arm’s length
stars from the grey sky loom large
that urgent desire to ask you rise in me
if the stars in your sky too are bright as here?
do they twinkle as they do in mine
right now at this moment when
I am standing here holding you close to me
your smile falling all over my being
I search for your eyes to check my hair
and then I see them; the moonbeams
peeping through my window
all of those walk inside to sit on the sill
my elbows have moved aside
I know now my moon is here tonight…
