Every night when I stretch my aching limbs

shadows of setting sun elongated, scorched

fall short of my soul’s contentment

I order my retired senses to stay awake

till the time, I resume to be myself

for I know, without me, I will cease to be in sleep

leftover light is never in the  mood to match my state

no.. I can not sleep while being hindered

I fail to jump while intoxicated

for I dread that well of oblivion

where no one registers how long one has been to

I have to keep count of my each moment

that had been granted to exist

my head on your shoulder to rest

I wait wide awake

my eyes heavy in anticipation

are lost in your silhouette

night thickens with echoing silence

your arms tighten and we rise within

I hover over our united forms

each surrounding the other

in accordance with the laws of lovemaking

and I find myself slipping blissfully

into that abyss of togetherness

we strive to arrive at every time we embrace

for we don’t own the world

we are a minuscule part of it

yet.. together we merge into it

and sleep blissfully till the dawn arrives

to find my pillow devoid of dents…
