foliage outside my door is mesmerising
every single green enriched
I fill my frame with its glory
and here she comes
my little sparrow, my Serene
did I forget her or had she lost her way?
Oblivious of my longing for her
she pecks at the grain on the floor
sips water warmed by morning sun
my hands still on the door knob
I can’t remember for how long I stood
peering at her hungry pecks
and then I heard those faint tentative yet incessant chirping
alarmed I dashed out to look up
she glided almost touching my hair, Serene
up in the wooden box
oh! the new life has arrived
finally.. after many years…
and I thought my abode had turned barren…
