walking besides you listening

to your silent footsteps

stealthily grinding on pavement tiles

mine echoing within me

I knew at every footstep

these few seconds that we had picked up

from the threshold of our racing hours

harnessing them to our unison

molten in fleeting time, slipping rapidly…

the street stopped at the bend

so did you

I ordered my feet to stop making noise

they listened, we did too

we spoke, we talked, eyes shone, lips wavered

that dent on your forehead began to beat against my breast

you turned right, I turned backwards

footsteps.. footsteps.. footsteps..
